The RAF Trail Race Series features races at Coopers Rock State Park in West Virginia, offering both in-person competition and a virtual option in October. The event honors Robin Ames, with proceeds supporting the Robin Ames Scholarship Fund. Participants can select from a 50K, 50K relay, 25K, 10K, 5K, or Robin's Scouts 1 Mile Fun Run, accommodating a range of abilities from short family runs to ultramarathon distances using repeat loops.
The 10K loop serves as the foundation for the longer distances: 10K participants complete it once, 50K runners traverse it five times, and each relay team consists of five runners, each covering one loop. The 25K course integrates two 10K loops with one 5K loop. The 5K course is a single loop with approximately 380 feet of elevation gain. Each 10K loop gains about 687 feet, featuring a 2.4-mile primary climb with 429 feet of ascent and a 3.4% average grade. All loops begin and end in the same vicinity, allowing runners to return to the central hub for music, food, and interaction with the race community.
