Om dette løb
The Mattoon Last Chance Tri is a sprint-distance triathlon held at the Mattoon Area Family YMCA in Mattoon, Illinois. Taking place in the fall, it features a beginner-friendly course: a 275-yard swim in the indoor pool, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run. The race begins in the early afternoon, with packet pickup, a new-triathlete orientation, open pool time, and a pre-race meeting scheduled in the hours before the start.
All segments of the race start and finish at the YMCA on North 16th Street, keeping the event contained and easy to navigate for participants and observers. The indoor swim eliminates open-water concerns, making the race accessible for novice triathletes while offering experienced competitors a brief, intense challenge. Helmets are mandatory, headphones are prohibited on the bike, and the event follows USAT rules as guidelines, though it is not USAT sanctioned. Prizes are awarded to the overall male and female finishers, the top two in each men's and women's age category, and the top two teams.
