The Marcha Cicloturista Juanma Garate is a cycling sportive held in Irun, organized by Club Ciclista Irunés. Participants can select a 122 km route featuring 2,500 m of elevation gain or a 72 km route with 1,256 m of climbing. The shorter route still requires significant climbing ability.
The event commemorates Juanma Garate, a cyclist who began his riding career in the Bidasoa Cycling School. He later achieved professional success with stage victories in the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España. Garate also earned the title of Spanish champion, won the Giro mountains classification, and served as a director for EF Education-EasyPost. He continues to support the club's youth cycling initiatives.
