Štramberský Jasoň

Štramberský Jasoň directs walkers, runners, and cyclists toward the square in Štramberk, a small Moravian town beneath its castle tower. The event takes place in September and offers 22 routes ranging from 6 km to 67 km. Most routes begin in Kopřivnice, with two starting in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. The JASOŇ50 is a 50 km ultra trail starting in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, crossing Lysá hora, and has a 13-hour time limit. The shorter routes allow participation for more than just ultrarunners. There are 6 km and 13 km options suitable for seniors and strollers. A 46 km cycling route runs from Ostrava through Olešná. Additional routes originate from Frýdek-Místek, Frenštát, and Kopřivnice, passing landmarks like Velký Javorník, Hukvaldy, Příbor, Bílá hora, and Lichnov. The route descriptions guide participants to Štramberk Castle and Šipka Cave, the Zdeněk Burian Museum, the Bílá hora lookout tower, Husova lípa, Jasníkova studánka, Bezručova vyhlídka, and the ruins of Šostýn Castle. The old motto remains: “If you want to stay fit, you have to go to Štramberk!” A tradition involves collecting a coin each year, with a warning that missing an edition means forfeiting that year's coin.
