Σχετικά με τον αγώνα
The Maratona di Torino is a late-November marathon in Turin, covering the standard 42.195 km distance. Its history dates back to 1897, making it one of Italy’s oldest marathons. The main race begins and ends at Piazza Castello, with the finish line located before the Royal Palace. The event also offers shorter races: a half marathon starting in Borgaretto and a 5 km race for beginners or those seeking a shorter run through Turin’s historic center.
The current marathon follows a flat loop through Turin and its surrounding metropolitan area, passing through Moncalieri, Nichelino, Beinasco, Orbassano, Rivalta, Rivoli, and Collegno. The initial route ran from Turin to None, and the course has been modified numerous times before adopting its present city-and-suburbs layout. Thousands of athletes and amateur runners participate, and the race is listed on the World Athletics Global Calendar and FIDAL’s Marathons of Art Cities circuit. A notable local feature is the timing: late November often coincides with Turin’s Luci d’Artista light installations, meaning the city center's winter art lights are illuminated around race weekend.
