P.S.S. Imperial Palace Health Running is a small race and practice session held at the Imperial Palace in Chiyoda, Tokyo, offering 5 km, 10 km, 20 km, and 20 km relay options. The longer race and relay begin early in the morning, while the 5 km and 10 km start later. The entire event is scheduled to conclude before noon. It welcomes beginners and experienced runners, with an expected participation of 100 to 499 individuals. Entry fees are low for Tokyo races: solo distances cost 1,000 yen, and the relay is 4,000 yen per team.
The start and finish lines are both located near the Clock Tower within Sakuradamon Gate. The race route consists of repeated laps around the Imperial Palace, not a point-to-point course. Timing is conducted manually with a stopwatch and printer. Lap cutoffs are strict, making the event suitable for marathon practice and fitness checks. PSS Inc. organizes the event with a notably flexible approach: late arrivals, same-day registration, same-day distance adjustments, the option to stop early without penalty, and even improvised distances are permitted. Participation gifts include sports drinks and izakaya meal vouchers, with all participants receiving an award.
