The Shinetsu Five Mountains Trail Running Race 110km is a long mountain trail race starting at Madarao Kogen in the Shinetsu Highlands. It is part of the Patagonia Cup event, held over three days in early autumn, offering two distances: 100 miles and 110km. The 110km race starts before sunrise, with a 22-hour time limit, designed for experienced trail runners capable of a full day in the mountains.
The course connects five Shinetsu mountain areas and local highland communities across Niigata and Nagano prefectures, including Myoko, Nagano, Shinano, Iizuna, and Iiyama. Trail runner Hiroki Ishikawa produces the race. The route links ridgelines, forest trails, resorts, towns, and aid stations across a wide mountain region, avoiding short loops. The 100-mile race shares the same event weekend, also starting from Madarao Kogen, with a 33-hour limit.
