The Bull Run is a chip-timed 5K run/walk in Midland, Michigan, starting from Emerson Park at 1300 W. Main St. The event also includes a 1.6 km option, with kids 10 and under able to run the free Calf Mile. It is a young race, now in its third annual edition, and it honors Kenneth C. VanBlaricum, nicknamed “Bull,” who died from ALS.
The 5K course starts in Emerson Park, crosses the Tridge, and finishes on the ball diamond. Proceeds go to ALS of Michigan and pALS, so the race is tied closely to the cause behind Bull’s story. Every participant receives a medal and a dog tag honoring Bull’s National Guard service, while a performance tee is offered as an optional add-on.
