Sobre esta carrera
The Bergkloster-Lauf is an autumn fun run in Bestwig, Sauerland, featuring races for children, youth, 6-kilometer runners, 10-kilometer runners, walkers, and half marathoners. TuS Velmede-Bestwig organizes the event with the Bergkloster Bestwig as a partner, and the finish line is located at the monastery. The 10-kilometer race and the children’s and youth races are part of the Volksbank Sauerland Laufcup.
The longer routes begin at the sports field Am Bähnchen, below the monastery, then proceed past streams, over ridges, through small settlements, and return toward Bestwig. The half marathon starts on flat terrain, ascends near Andreasberg, descends into the Elpe valley, follows the Elpe downstream toward Ostwig, and concludes with a short final climb to the Bergkloster. The children’s races cover 700, 1400, and 2100 meters. The event also provides free massages, childcare for parents who are running, live music, catering, and support from over 100 volunteers from TuS Velmede-Bestwig.
