Drachentriathlon takes place at Drachensee, a lake near Furth im Wald in Bavaria’s “dragon city.” The triathlon department of TV 1881 Furth im Wald e.V. organizes it, offering several race options: a sprint-distance individual race, a short-distance individual race, and a sprint relay for teams. The sprint course covers 500 meters swimming, 22.9 km cycling, and 4.7 km running; the short distance extends to 1.5 km swimming, 40.3 km cycling, and 9.4 km running.
The event begins with open-water swimming in Drachensee, followed by the cycling and running segments originating from the lake venue on Daberger Strasse. It is designed for amateurs and age-group athletes, not exclusively specialists, with anticipated participation of around 200 in the sprint, 150 in the short race, and 100 in the relay. The weekend also features a children’s and youth duathlon, and the event is largely managed by the club, including participant gifts, food, drinks, coffee, cake, results, and photos as part of the package.
