Sobre esta carrera
The Grand Raid de Camargue begins with runners starting behind horses before entering the protected Camargue region near Salin-de-Giraud in southern France. This annual trail running series, termed an “Ultra Nature” event by its organizers, offers races ranging from 12 km and half marathon distances to marathon, 60 km, and a 100 km ultra with minimal elevation gain.
The course crosses the Camargue from east to west, utilizing areas typically off-limits to runners. It reaches the coast via private beaches, crosses salt flats with distinctive pink water, and incorporates water crossings, dikes, rocks, and opportunities for close observation of flamingos. Participants finish in traditional Camargue arenas, and the event holds a label from the Regional Natural Park, reflecting its unique access to protected natural environments.
