About this race

The Frauenfelder Marathon is a road marathon held in November, starting and finishing in Frauenfeld, the capital of the Swiss canton of Thurgau. A half marathon is also part of the event. Its origins are unique: it developed from the Frauenfelder Militärwettmarsch, a Swiss military march established by Max Beer and others, which is the most well-known event of its kind in Switzerland. Both the full 42.195 km marathon and the half marathon have been included in the program since the year 2000. The marathon follows a single loop route from Frauenfeld to Wil and back, with an elevation gain of approximately 520 meters. The outbound leg passes through Matzingen, Wängi, Eschlikon, and Sirnach before reaching Wil, the starting point for the half marathon. The return journey goes through St. Margarethen, Lommis, and Stettfurt. The course records indicate it is a fast course, though not entirely flat: the men's marathon record is 2:28:54, set by Urs Christen, and the women's record is 2:53:05, set by Astrid Müller. Patrik Wägeli and Rebecca Rüegge are the current record holders for the half marathon.
