About this race
The Möhrendorfer Karpfenweiherlauf takes place on a weekend in late September in Möhrendorf, Germany, centered on the carp ponds located outside the village. The primary event is a 21.1 km run through the landscape, essentially a half marathon on natural trails instead of paved city streets. Shorter races are available, including a 10.5 km run, a 7 km recreational run, and a 7 km Nordic Walking event, alongside youth and pupil races ranging from 1 km to 4 km.
The course winds through forest, meadow, and field paths, passing numerous local carp ponds that lend the race its name. The half marathon route features approximately 150 meters of elevation gain, creating a rolling terrain without becoming a strenuous mountain race. The event maintains a traditional village race atmosphere, offering distinct distances for adults, walkers, recreational runners, and children, rather than consolidating them into a single format.
