About this race
The AHRTuS-Lauf is a club-organized race day held above Kalvarienberg in Ahrweiler, with the event grounds prepared in the Quarzkaul by TuS Ahrweiler volunteers. The schedule begins with races for Bambini, children, and youth, followed by 5 km and 10 km runs, and a 6.2 km Nordic walking option. It has the atmosphere of a local family gathering alongside a competition, offering finisher medals for children, a bouncy castle, a play bus, and live music near the start and finish.
The routes for adults primarily traverse shaded forest roads and narrow trails, featuring sufficient elevation changes to present a greater challenge than a flat city run. A notable segment involves a gradual ascent through the Maibachklämmchen, a small wooded area with numerous wooden bridges. The 10 km race also functions as the final event in the Ahrtal-TEAM-Cup, attracting club teams competing for concluding points in addition to individual achievements. The participation is moderate, around 250 runners, and participant comments frequently highlighted the shaded, engaging course.
