Nytårsløb is a New Year’s Eve running event in Herning, Denmark, organized by Herning Løbeklub. This is its 35th edition. Runners can choose 5 km, 10 km, or a half marathon. There is also an early-start half marathon for participants expecting to take over 2 hours 30 minutes. This early group is intended to accommodate slower runners, not as a distinct prize category.
The half marathon route is DAF measured. The initial kilometers may require close attention to directional arrows before the course becomes more straightforward. Music is provided along the route, and shelter is available at the finish. Every finisher receives a medal; the current medal is crafted from FSC-certified wood, reflecting a move toward more sustainable practices. Post-run, the atmosphere is social, with participants offered a sandwich and a beverage (beer or water) before their New Year’s Eve celebrations.
