About this race

Carrera Nocturna del Guadalquivir is a Friday-night run through Seville, held on the last Friday of September with a 10 p.m. start. It is an 8.5-kilometer city race, with the start and finish on Paseo de las Delicias by Glorieta de Buenos Aires. The City of Seville’s Municipal Sports Institute organizes it, and the entry list is built for mass participation: about 25,000 bibs are offered, with runners from their mid-teens upward allowed to join. By turnout, it is described by the organizers as Europe’s biggest night race and one of the world’s largest races of its kind. The route uses central Seville streets before returning to Paseo de las Delicias, passing places such as the Palacio de San Telmo, the Torre del Oro, the Andalusian Parliament area, the Muralla de la Macarena, Avenida El Cid, and Avenida de Maria Luisa. There is a refreshment point halfway and another after the finish, which fits the race’s role as a popular city event for club runners, casual runners, and first-timers rather than only fast athletes. The race is deep into its fourth decade, and recent editions have drawn more than 22,000 runners. It also keeps some practical community touches, including discounted or supported entry categories for residents, older runners, people with reduced mobility, and people facing economic difficulty, plus a runner bag made from biodegradable materials.
