About this race

Chimaque Trail is a mountain race on Monte de Santa Ursula in Tenerife, typically held in November. Based in Santa Ursula, it utilizes the island's upland terrain instead of a city-road format. The event welcomes runners of varied abilities; some compete intensely, while others use it to discover a new part of Tenerife. A 12 km trail option is designated as non-competitive, offering a way to experience the route without the pressure of rankings. The course crosses the less-explored Monte de Santa Ursula, a natural zone situated between the Las Palomas Nature Reserve and the Pinoleris Integral Nature Reserve. Participants will encounter native Canary vegetation, including laurel forest, monteverde, fayal-brezal, and Canary Island pine. The mountain also holds historical significance for locals; residents once gathered produce from its terraces, and charcoal makers and woodcutters worked the same terrain. This imbues the race with a distinct sense of place, providing classifications for competitive runners and ample landscape and history for those who value the journey as much as the finish time.
