El Pavo Muniain 2026

El Pavo Muniain is a year-end mountain bike ride that begins at the town hall in Muniain de la Solana at 10 AM. Approximately 400 riders participate in its seventh edition, with a growing number of women, ranging from 50 to nearly 60 entries. The organizer, Lizarradea Mountain Bike, views this increase positively, seeing it as a way to attract more women to mountain biking and encourage their continued participation. The route covers 36.8 km and is designed for varied skill levels. Most of the route is neutralized, with the final 3 km open for participants to race at full speed. Gravel and cyclocross bikes have their own category, meaning the event is not exclusively for standard mountain bikes. The prizes lend the race its name and a touch of local humor: the top three finishers are awarded a turkey, and gravel and cyclocross participants receive a chicken. Participants are also invited to wear costumes, a tradition that has become more popular in recent editions.
