The Gran Fondo de la Trufa begins in El Toro, located in Castellón’s Alto Palancia region. This late-November mountain race utilizes the town’s dirt tracks and paths. The primary event is a competitive trail run of just over 16.4 kilometers. Additionally, a 5.5 kilometer non-competitive walk is available for those who prefer to experience the local setting without the race aspect. This event attracts a broad participation base, not solely elite athletes, with entries open to all. The El Toro City Council manages the organization. The course commences and concludes near Plaza de Jariz, which also hosts the final aid station. Previous route details indicate a 15.5 kilometer version featuring 485 meters of elevation gain. The highest point reaches 1,300 meters at La Canaleta, signifying a short trail race with significant mountain challenges. By its tenth year, local media recognized it as a staple of trail running in the southern part of the province. Following the race, awards are presented to the top male and female finishers. Participants in the walk are encouraged to visit the town and offer support from the sidelines.
