About this race
The Open BTT Villa de Cádiar is a mountain-bike race held in Cádiar, located in Granada's Alpujarra region, typically taking place in late autumn. This event is part of the Diputación de Granada's Provincial BTT Marathon Circuit, receiving backing from Andalusian cycling organizations and local coordination by the Cádiar town council. It is a mid-distance off-road competition, not a short-town criterium, featuring approximately 47 km within a circuit format common for BTT races up to 50 km.
The race begins at Plaza de Encarni and proceeds onto mountain roads, paths, and trails surrounding Cádiar, Yátor, and Narila. Sections extend to neighboring towns including Lobras, Alpujarra de la Sierra, Bérchules, and Ugíjar. The participant field is modest but competitive, with recent years attracting between 100 and 150 cyclists. The race has also functioned as one of the final scoring events for the provincial circuit, following stages in locations like Loja, Lanjarón, Dúrcal, Purullena, Aldeire, Benalúa, Alhama de Granada, and Montillana. Participants usually receive a race bag, T-shirt, food, and beverages, with competitive awards including trophies and cash prizes.
