About this race
Vilaverd Skyrace is a mountain-running weekend held in Vilaverd, Tarragona, Spain, with routes staying under 1000 metres elevation. It suits runners and walkers who prefer rugged mountain terrain over smooth paths, offering four options: a long marathon, the classic Skyrace, the shorter Trail Vilaverd, and a family walk. Three distances contribute to the UTMB Index, and the family walk allows non-runners to participate without tackling the most technical parts.
The 24 km route includes approximately 1500 metres of climbing, and the 14 km route has about 1000 metres, indicating neither distance is a simple outing. The course crosses ridges, riverine forests, climbs near rock-climbing areas, and includes some rope-assisted sections, contributing to its high technical rating. The Skyrace is intended for seasoned mountain runners, while the Trail Vilaverd is more approachable but still features genuine mountain terrain. The start area in the village square is notably lively for a demanding race, with large balloons and confetti.
