The LA'titude race and hike circles the seven villages of Loire-Authion, close to Angers in Maine-et-Loire. Each year, participants explore a different part of the commune. Held in October, the event combines trail running, walking, nature trails, and some town sections. The primary running options are LA Sportive (18 km) and LA Rythmée (10 km). For walkers, there are 16 km, 11 km, and 3 km routes. The short family route ensures the event is open to more than just dedicated runners, appealing to hikers and families as much as to those seeking a challenge.
The running courses traverse paths between the Loire and Authion rivers. The scenery changes from village outskirts to riverbanks and open country paths. The hiking routes focus on exploration, featuring canals, riverside wildlife, bridges, small harbors, and paths along the Loire. Hikers are given a booklet highlighting points of interest. Loire-Authion, with the Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou athletics club, organizes the event. Previous events have taken place in locations like Andard, La Daguenière, La Bohalle, and around Saint-Mathurin, attracting around 700 runners and over 400 hikers. A morning village offering activities, affordable on-site hiking registration, and free supervised childcare for ages 3 to 12 contribute to the local community atmosphere, distinguishing it from a purely competitive event.
