L'Eguillenne takes place in late November in Éguilles, a village in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of Provence, near Aix-en-Provence. Participants can select a 10 km road race circling the village or an 18 km trail race, catering to those preferring a shorter road distance and those seeking a longer off-road challenge. Approximately 500 runners participate annually, with the 10 km event typically attracting more participants.
The road course reserves its difficulty for the conclusion: the final two kilometers feature the montée des Colombiers, a steep ascent that justifies the race's motto, “Sharpen your calves well!” The 18 km route is primarily off-road, with roughly 80% crossing paths and trails within the Éguilles forest, offering expansive views toward the village and the surrounding landscape. Recent participation saw over 200 runners in the 10 km and over 100 in the trail race, contributing to its atmosphere as a local Provence event rather than a large urban competition.
