La Montliardaise is a trail running event held in early November in Moulidars, Charente, featuring five race distances: 9 km, 14 km, 18 km, 25 km, and 39 km. A free-pace walk and children's races are also offered, ensuring the weekend appeals beyond experienced trail runners. The 9 km and 39 km races can fill quickly, and routes may be slightly extended if technical course adjustments are necessary.
Two local running enthusiasts initiated the race with support from athletes, friends, council members, and first-timers. The event became part of the Charente trail challenge, surpassing 1,000 runners and becoming the department's largest trail race. La Charente Libre once referred to Moulidars as the “capital of trail,” a fitting description for a village event attracting large numbers. Its history includes a muddy, windy edition during storm Amélie, a Covid cancellation, and a comeback with over 1,000 participants.
