About this race

Montée de l'Alpe d'Huez takes place in mid-June in Huez, Isère, France. The primary event is a 14 km road cycling ascent of one of the Tour de France's most renowned mountains, featuring 1,120 meters of elevation gain and the climb’s 21 marked hairpin turns. The event also accommodates participants who wish to ascend the mountain on foot or at a relaxed pace, offering walking and leisure cycling alongside the road race. The course is straightforward in concept but demanding in execution: begin at the base, ascend the Alpe d'Huez road, and navigate the switchbacks until reaching the resort. It welcomes runners, hikers, cyclists, rollerbladers, individuals, and relay teams, meaning the day is not exclusive to expert climbers. A significant charitable component is present: the event benefits France’s national day supporting wounded soldiers, with funds directed to these soldiers and their families. The 93rd Mountain Artillery Regiment has organized the event, and handbike Paralympic champion Florian Jouanny, a native of Oisans, has acted as its patron.
