About this race

THP Winter, the cold-season Trail de Haute Provence, takes place in November on Montagne de Lure in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Races begin in Saint-Etienne-les-Orgues, offering distances from short mountain trails to an ultra. Formats include 14 km with 600 m elevation gain, 32 km with 1,500 m, and 45 km with 2,100 m. Longer W70 and W100 options are also available. The W100 is a demanding ultra, covering approximately 103 km with 5,200 m of ascent. The 32 km and 45 km races contribute to the short and long trail rankings in the Challenge des Trails de Provence. This event offers a subdued winter mountain weekend, distinct from a large urban running festival. The race village, situated with views of Montagne de Lure, provides bib collection, exhibitors, food, and drinks, alongside pre-race gatherings. On the trails, participants might require poles and crampons. The event's descriptions suggest snow, rugged terrain, and a more isolated atmosphere compared to the summer edition. The series also acts as the concluding stage for the Challenge des Trails de Provence, following organiser Vincent Guiliani's decision to advance the date by a month and adjust the race schedule to align with this circuit.
