About this race
The Trail de la Ria et de l'Océan begins near the small beach at the port of Magouër in Plouhinec, a seaside town in Morbihan, Brittany, near Lorient. This mid-January nature trail event offers several running distances, from around 8 km to longer trails in the high 20s, along with Nordic walking and hiking options on the same terrain.
The course crosses coast, forest, market-garden tracks, dunes, and the Ria d'Etel river area, with some paths accessible only on race day. Runners proceed towards the Gâvres-Quiberon dunes, Brittany's largest dune system at 25 km, before returning toward Plouhinec's river and ocean edge. Following a weather cancellation, the organizers relocated the race village to central Plouhinec, introduced shuttles from the Bisconte parking area, and established three start lines for pace-based seeding. The 28 km race includes the Jean-François Le Courtois trophy.
