Trail du Salagou 2026

Trail du Salagou offers several trail races starting from Clermont-l'Hérault, located next to Lac du Salagou in southern France, approximately 30 minutes from Montpellier. The event takes place in October, providing runners with various distances. Options range from a 5 km mini trail to the 42 km Marathon du Salagou. Additionally, there is the 27 km Tour du Lac, the 13 km Presqu'île route, a 12 km Nordic walking event, and children's races of 500 m, 1,000 m, and 2,500 m. The day is designed for both families and dedicated trail runners. The course winds through the red earth surrounding the lake, known as ruffe, which gives Salagou its characteristic color underfoot. The 13 km race traces the shores near Clermont-l'Hérault and Liausson before circling the Presqu'île de la Sure, offering unobstructed views of the lake. The longer courses utilize singletrack and wider paths, featuring frequent changes in pace and undulating terrain instead of high mountains. One measured Tour du Lac route spans just under 27 km with approximately 501 m of elevation gain and descent, with altitudes ranging between roughly 128 m and 227 m. Participants include marathon trail runners, participants in shorter races, Nordic walkers, children, and individuals seeking their first experience racing on Salagou's distinctive red lakeside terrain.
