About this race
The Bideford 10 Mile race begins and ends near the Bideford Amateur Athletic Club’s clubhouse at The Pill in Bideford, North Devon. This 10-mile road race, organized by Bideford Amateur Athletic Club, welcomes runners of all abilities, not just fast club athletes. The event benefits North Devon Hospice, and all finishers get a medal and a T-shirt. The course is officially measured, holds a UK Athletics/Run Britain license, and is promoted as potentially the fastest 10-miler in Devon.
The route follows roads out and returns on the Tarka Trail, offering views across the Taw and Torridge estuary. It is mostly flat, featuring three minor inclines, and runners pass through a tunnel before heading back to the clubhouse. Spectators are welcome. The leading runners have additional incentives: the top three men and women receive cash prizes, with first place awarded £250 and a £50 bonus for a new course record. The existing records are competitive for a local 10-miler, standing at 49:58 for men and 57:46 for women.
