Black Beacon Mountain Races 2026

FRI, October 30, 2026 · Hereford , United Kingdom

About this race

The Black Beacon Mountain Races are point-to-point mountain trail races crossing Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons, and the Black Mountains in South Wales. Participants can select from four race distances: a 100-mile mountain ultra, a 50-mile ultra, a 50K event named Ultra Bach, and a 21-mile trail race. The 100-mile race involves over 7,500 metres of climbing, and the shortest option includes approximately 1,200 metres of ascent. The complete 100-mile course extends from Hay-on-Wye to Pontneddfechan and returns, while the 50-mile race follows a single direction from Pontneddfechan to Hay-on-Wye. The 50K connects Pontneddfechan with Llangynidr, and the 21-mile race runs from Llangynidr to Hay-on-Wye. The trails are characterized as fast and not overly technical, with navigation generally uncomplicated. The terrain features waterfalls, reservoirs, and the highest mountain peaks in South Wales. Runners receive support from well-supplied checkpoints throughout the courses.
