About this race
The Devil's Punchbowl 10K is a 10 km trail run starting from Devil's Punchbowl Car Park in Hindhead, Surrey. The run crosses the Devil's Punchbowl, a natural amphitheatre and local beauty spot. It offers sunset outings in the warmer months and headtorch night runs in the colder months. It is structured as a group run rather than a competitive race: runners stay together, manage hills at their own pace, and follow a guide instead of navigating.
The route follows hilly trails around the bowl, with breaks at the summit for views before continuing. It is suitable for newcomers to trail running, runners who enjoy company, and those who prefer not to run off-road alone at dusk or after dark. Running Adventures organizes the event, led by Matt Buck, a Salomon and Suunto ambassador, trail and ultra runner, mountain leader, qualified guide, and coach. Participants should have the fitness to maintain approximately 10-minute miles or 6-minute kilometres on trail for an extended period. Included extras are parking at the start, a kit list, Silva headtorches and Salomon trail shoes for testing, and a non-alcoholic beer at the finish.
