Fireworks 50 is a 50-mile track race held at Wodson Park Sports Centre in Ware, Hertfordshire, as part of the Fireworks Festival of Running. The event takes place on a traffic-free athletics track, following a straightforward format: runners complete the distance by continuously moving around the lanes. Chip timing is provided, with aid stations available on the course and a 12-hour cut-off. The field is limited to 50 runners, making it a small ultra rather than a large-scale event.
The track configuration ensures runners stay on course, and supporters can observe them each lap. Facilities including toilets, changing rooms, free parking, and race photos are conveniently located nearby. Faster runners are directed to use the right side for overtaking, while walkers or run-walkers are asked to use the outer lanes. Refreshments like tea, coffee, and cake are available throughout the day, accompanied by music. All finishers will receive a custom medal, and a head torch is necessary for the later stages as dusk approaches.
