About this race
The Haunted Hustle takes place at KEVA Sports Center in Middleton, Wisconsin, on a Saturday morning in late October, centered around Halloween. Participants can choose from several events: the Haunted Half Marathon, Terror 10K, Run For Your Life 5K, Great Pup-Kin 5K dog jog, Zombie Walk 5K, and the Monster Dash, a 500-yard sprint for children ages 5 to 12. The races begin sequentially, with the half marathon starting first among the main running events, followed by the 10K, 5K, dog jog, and walk.
The half marathon route combines quiet residential streets with inclines and declines, then includes 3.1 miles within Pheasant Branch Nature Conservancy before leveling out near the finish. Aid stations are located at miles 2, 5.3, 7.9, 10.2, and 11.9, offering water, Gatorade, and Swedish Fish. Costumes are encouraged, and the event accommodates various participants: runners, walkers, families, children, and those with dogs each have a dedicated option. Post-race, the finish area features live music and refreshments, giving the event the atmosphere of a Halloween running festival rather than a single-distance race.
