The Lewes Downland 5 & 10 Mile Trail Runs begin at Landport Bottom Meadow, north of Lewes, on the first Sunday of October annually. These are off-road races on the South Downs, offering a 5-mile option and a more demanding 10-mile route that contributes to the Sussex Grand Prix series.
Both routes traverse chalk tracks, grassy inclines, and woodland paths near Blackcap and Mount Harry. The 5-mile race circles back from Blackcap via Mount Harry. The 10-mile race extends further into less-traveled sections of the Downs before returning through Ashcombe Bottom. Lewes AC members participate in large numbers, alongside runners from visiting clubs, including AS Marolles from France, twinned with Lewes AC. Participants have noted the 10-mile course as difficult yet enjoyable, and the event maintains a local club atmosphere, complete with marshals, volunteers, and post-race cake.
