About this race

The Loch Kinord 10K is a trail race encircling Loch Kinord. It begins and concludes at Kinord Hall in Dinnet, Aberdeenshire, situated on the A93 between Aboyne and Ballater. The race takes place within the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, offering participants a largely flat, swift 10 km course. This makes it suitable for those aiming for a fast trail time and for runners new to off-road racing. The route incorporates forest tracks, narrow paths, grassy areas, and nature reserve trails, featuring vistas over the loch and through the adjacent woods. The terrain is firm and generally runnable, though rain can lead to muddy or slick conditions in places. Trail shoes are recommended, and hazard tape will mark difficult sections if necessary. Marshals will be stationed along the course, and participants should carry clothing appropriate for variable Highland weather, with full body cover available pre-race.
