Moors The Merrier begins the Christmas period with a Santa hat on the mandatory kit list and a challenging 21-mile loop starting from Hebden Bridge Golf Club. This is a supported event for walkers and runners navigating the moors above Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, featuring 4000 feet of ascent and a 10-hour time limit. Walkers and early runners depart first, with the main race commencing later in the morning. Entry is by pre-registration only, the minimum age is 18, teams of three can compete with all three counting towards the team score, and the event typically sells out. The anti-clockwise route crosses Midgley Moor, Wadsworth Moor, Heptonstall Moor, and Erringden Moor, culminating in a final ascent from the valley back to the golf club. Checkpoints are well-supplied; Jumble Hole is frequently mentioned by participants as “the best checkpoint ever”.
