About this race
Run for Redfern is a 5K charity run, jog, or walk in Leicester, organized by De Montfort University in memory of Adam Redfern, a late DMU graduate and colleague. It starts in Victoria Park and finishes at De Montfort’s Students’ Union Building, linking a major Leicester park with the university campus. The event raises money for the Adam Redfern Memorial Fund and has raised over £1,700.
The route is suitable for walkers and first-time runners, but it also attracts competitive participants, such as Shaun John of DMU Lacrosse, who achieved the fastest men’s time. Participants come from across the UK, and the event drew a record field in the source report. The memorial fund supports DMU’s Heart Safe Campus initiative and scholarships for media students. Ian Redfern, Adam’s father, described the day as “almost like an annual celebration of Adam’s life.”
