Winter on the Downs 50K 2026

The Winter on the Downs 50K begins and ends at Plumpton Racecourse, taking participants on a single loop through East Sussex trails. This winter trail ultra features minimal road running, utilizing grass trails, farm tracks, woodland paths, rolling hills, and some steep ascents. The course involves approximately 3,700 feet of elevation change, and the terrain typically drains well, remaining runnable even in adverse weather. The event is fully marked, with four aid stations to assist with navigation. No qualifier is necessary for entry, though participants must be at least 20 years old. The entry fee includes a required GPS tracker. It holds UTMB Index status and 2 ITRA points, and contributes to the South Downs Triple Crown 50K challenge. Conditions can vary from clear skies to wind, rain, sleet, fog, freezing temperatures, or snow, providing a distinct winter character without being intentionally difficult.
