About this race
Horn Attacke begins in Bolzano and concludes atop the Corno del Renon, with participants switching from running shoes to ski-mountaineering equipment for the upper mountain ascent. This South Tyrolean duathlon covers approximately 20 kilometers and involves about 2,000 meters of elevation gain. It typically takes place in March and is open to individual competitors and relay teams of two or three.
The course proceeds from Bolzano via trail no. 6 towards Soprabolzano, proceeding to Pemmern/Tre Vie for the equipment change. From there, it ascends the final ski-mountaineering leg to the Corno del Renon, situated at 2,260 meters. The name translates to an “attack” on the Horn, reflecting the day’s format: a demanding city-to-summit challenge for mountain runners, ski mountaineers, mixed relay teams, and individuals seeking a single event combining two distinct physical efforts.
