About this race
By the Arakawa in Koto Ward, this is a practical river-course race with a long-running feel: the 114th edition, not a one-off novelty. The pitch is simple and runner-friendly: “Reasonable prices!”, a “Wide variety of events!”, and a full flat course where you can settle into rhythm without thinking about hills.
The venue is close to the station and tucked under the elevated highway, so there is at least some cover if rain rolls in. Results are split into 10-year age groups, with a useful quirk: first place in each group gets invited to the next race for free, and point cards are issued too; collect three and you can enter the race of your choice.
