About this race
The Ichinoseki International Half Marathon begins and ends at Ichinoseki Hirose Yudome in Iwate Prefecture. The half marathon starts in the morning, with a 10 km race held later. This event is held alongside the Half Marathon Michinoku Championship, catering to both recreational runners and athletes from the Tohoku region. Net timing and split timing are used, and registration opens in spring.
The official race site provides the course map. The details suggest a standard city race centered on Ichinoseki, not a trail or festival event. Awards are given across many age groups: men are categorized in five-year increments and women in ten-year increments. Prize money is awarded to the top male and female finishers. Additionally, a special prize is offered to the highest-ranked Japan Association of Athletics Federations-registered runners from the six Tohoku prefectures. Three runners will be selected for the Honolulu Marathon. Guest runner Seira Fuwa, a Sumitomo Mitsui Marine athlete with a personal best of 1:09:39 in the half marathon, will compete in the 10 km race.
