About this race
The Boterkoektocht is a mountain bike ride starting in Mander, near Tubbergen, in the Dutch-German border region. WTC Tubbergen organizes this event concurrently with the Grensland Graveltocht. Participants can select a mountain bike route of 35, 48, or 60 kilometers, or a gravel route of 65 or 100 kilometers. Both rides commence and conclude at Camping Dal van Mosbeek, featuring distinct courses for each type of bicycle.
The mountain bike course crosses the hilly terrain surrounding Mander, Uelsen, and Wilsum. The gravel route extends further through forested areas, passing by Tubbergen, Uelsen, Itterbeck, Wilsum, Neuenhaus, Nordhorn, de Lutte, and Ootmarsum. GPX files are available for all distances, aligning with the cross-border nature of the event. The ride's name reflects a tradition: the refreshment stop features a serving of boterkoek, a dense Dutch butter cake, adding a local touch.
