Stonecityrun 2026

The StoneCityRun takes participants over Steenwijk's historic ramparts, through Rams Woerthe park, and into the town center. This Sunday afternoon event, held in Steenwijk, begins at Stationsplein and finishes in the Markt. The field is limited to 2,000 participants, and registration is required in advance as there is no same-day entry. The event supports local participation with amenities including changing rooms, showers, first aid, AEDs, parking, and public transport access. The race offers options for various ages and abilities: young children can compete in a 0.6 km Fun Run, middle school students in a 3 km race, others in 5 km or 10 km races, and walkers can join the 3 km Walk. A 1.5 km G-Run, organized with Maargies Hoeve, provides a more adapted setting for participants. Spectators and entertainment line the course, particularly through the center and at the Markt finish. At the ninth edition, approximately a thousand runners started, with more schoolchildren participating than in previous years. Chairman Feico Wiersma described it as one of the best editions.
