The Běh o vánočního kapra is a Christmas-season pavement race held on Masaryk Square in Nový Jičín. The winners receive a voucher for a live carp, as the name suggests. This event serves as the final race of the Nový Jičín Running League, featuring separate starts for children, juniors, and adults instead of a single combined field. The course consists of short laps around the square, with distances tailored to age groups. The youngest children running with parents cover 60 metres, while adult men complete five laps. Older children and junior categories typically run one to three laps, and adult women run three laps. SVČ Fokus Nový Jičín and Atletika Nový Jičín organize the event. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each category, with the carp voucher specifically going to the winners of categories excluding the youngest children's race.
