About this race
The Mikulášsky beh na Tancovú begins and ends in Bytča's park near the chapel. Runners depart at 11:00 for a modest St. Nicholas-themed charity race. Organized by Behači Bytča a okolie, the event includes a 12 km race, a 5 km family run, a 5 km walk, Nordic walking, and children’s races. The 12 km route is the competitive option, awarding prizes to the top three men, women, and teams of three. The 5 km race is untimed, welcoming families, children, beginners, and seniors.
The 12 km course ascends 235 meters via an old asphalt road through forest and meadow, looping back near the Tancová chapel, the race's sole refreshment point. The 5 km route is significantly flatter, with 10 meters of elevation gain along the Hričovský canal embankment, featuring a mix of grass and asphalt. The race maintains a friendly holiday atmosphere with Santa hats or headbands, medals, Christmas punch, tea, refreshments, and cooked sausage for participants, concluding with awards and a tombola. All proceeds benefit Mobilný hospic Matky Rózy Bytča.
