About this race

The Veteran Suicide Awareness March is an annual Wisconsin event organized by HOOAH WI, with marches in Green Bay and La Crosse. Participants choose a 17.6-mile route, a short route of about 2.2 to 2.25 miles, or a virtual option, and they can walk, ruck, or run. Green Bay also includes a free Mini-Mover event for kids 14 and under. The day starts with registration and resource tables, continues with an opening ceremony, and sends participants onto the route in the morning. The march brings together military personnel, veterans, families, and supporters to honor service members, veterans, and families affected by veteran suicide. Some participants ruck in honor of a specific service member or veteran, giving the distance a personal purpose beyond finishing. The route is also used to remember those lost and to mark resilience inside the military community. Proceeds support HOOAH WI peer support programs, outreach work, wellness services, and veteran suicide prevention programs, and the event ends with a welcome back party.
