About this race
The Bright Lights 5K & 1 Mile Walk is a nighttime run and walk held inside Garvin Park for Easterseals during Ritzy's Fantasy of Lights. For this single night, the light display is closed to vehicles and carriage rides, allowing runners, walkers, and individuals using mobility equipment exclusive access to the route. The event includes a 5K run and a low-cost 1-mile walk; 5K participants may also join the walk without an additional fee.
The 5K course measures 2.88 miles and consists of three laps around the park, beginning near Morgan Avenue and following the light display route. The path encircles the rear of Garvin Park, passing the illuminated attractions on each circuit, with a water station positioned near the conclusion of the first lap. Parking is designated for the lot adjacent to Bosse Field or the overflow area across Heidelbach Avenue, as parking within Garvin Park is prohibited. Animals are not permitted, with the exception of service animals.
