CAK5K on the Runway

The CAK5K on the Runway takes participants onto the actual runways at Akron-Canton Airport in Green, Ohio. This fall 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m., with Youth Run/Walk and Lil' Captains Dash options available for families. The airport hosts the race, which is part of the Green Great 8 Race Series. The start and finish are at MAPS Air Museum, and the course extends through the Ohio Air Guard Facility. Organizers state the course is the flattest in the region. Just after Mile 2.2, the Afterburner Zone is featured, a timed 100-meter race within the 5K offering separate age-group awards. Over 1,000 runners and walkers participated in a recent running; military discounts are available, and funds raised benefit Adaptive Sports Ohio and MAPS Air Museum.
