The Copperfield Caretaker 5k is a run/walk through the hilly Copperfield neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, beginning on Wickfield Drive in the morning. It is an affordable community 5k with awards for the top three men and women, but the main point is personal: runners and walkers come out to honor caretakers, particularly those quietly supporting loved ones behind the scenes.
The course remains within Copperfield, so the hills are part of the day rather than a flat-road speed setup. Donations benefit KIPDA Aging and Disability, which provides meals and care support for elderly people in the region. The race also features a purple mile for individuals with Alzheimer’s and others needing memory care, and participants can request to honor someone by name. Finishers receive a medal, participants get a Dri-Fit shirt, and the post-race spread offers a light breakfast from Wild Eggs.
