About this race

Cowboy YETI is a January trail race held at the Refectory in Bastrop State Park, near Bastrop, Texas. Participants can select from 7K, 20K, 40K, 60K, and 100K distances. A 20K ruck option is available for those carrying weight. The course features dirt and rocky single-track in Central Texas. Longer races consist of repeated 20K loops, each with approximately 800 feet of elevation gain. Average January weather ranges from 40 to 62 degrees, presenting cool conditions that still require hydration management. The route utilizes the Lost Pines Trail area and finishes at the same park location, with the 20K loop serving as the foundation for ultra distances. Cowboy YETI is a component of the Texas Legends Series, attracting a range of participants from short-course trail runners to 100K competitors managing cutoffs and pacing. The race is cup-free, requiring runners to provide their own hydration vessels. Aid stations, marked trails, awards by distance, race merchandise, photography, parking, shuttles for most distances, day-before packet pickup, and staggered starts are provided.
